ABOUT THE BREED

These Felines are named for their resemblant to the Egyptian Sphynx. The Canadian Sphynx cat breed is easily identifiable due to their hairless appearance. The breed is a result of a natural mutation of a domestic cat with a regular fur and developed through selective breeding during 1960s in Toronto, Canada.

They are one of the dog-like breeds, frequently greeting you at the door, friendly to strangers, with high level of energy, curiosity and affection for their owners. The Canadian Sphynx cats have a calm temper but they adore to play. These furless felines learn fast, they are easy to train, so you can play fetch together. The Canadian Sphynx cats love to cuddle with their humans and get along with dogs and all other animals.

The Canadian Sphynx cat is a medium-sized breed (about 2,5 – 3 kg for females and about 4 – 5 kg for males), has a soft and warm to touch wrinkly skin. Their large ears resemble the wings of a butterfly and their lemon-shaped deep eyes contribute to the unique look of the Sphynx cat.

With no fur to absorb the natural oils their skin produces; they need to take regular baths. The Canadian Sphynx cats are highly intelligent, curious and loyal. They are affectionate and want to be involved in everything you do, as they are people-oriented felines who need attention. They have long life up to 20 years (average 13-15).

The Canadian Sphynx cat breed is recognized by felinological organizations: TICA, ACFA, ACA, AACE, UFO, CCA, FIFe, LOOF, CFA, ACF, WCF.
